The Best of Ladakh Tour focuses on and covers all the popular destinations within the Ladakh region. This includes all the three major lakes of Ladakh, some of the highest motorable passes in the world, the valleys of Nubra, Sham and the plateau of Changthang. The tour drives through some of the most scenic routes amidst beautiful Ladakhi villages, to ancient monasteries and wondrous fortress.
The tour begins from your landing at the KBR airport Leh, and takes you not only through the regular routes for tourist but also familiarize you with the local culture and lifestyles.
To ensure a smooth acclimatization and to avoid any AMS symptoms, We do the local sightseeing on the evening of Day 1 in a car instead of walking, thereby avoiding unnecessary exertion to your unacclimatized body. Also, the itinerary is planned in a way to ensure a gradual gain in altitude as the tour proceeds.
Also, we will have a big oxygen cylinder in the car all the time for any emergency related to high altitude.

Arrival and acclimatizationArrive at Leh airport and transfer to the respective Hotel, booked for you. You are advised to take complete rest for the day to adapt yourself with the new environment at 11,135 feet altitude. Later, in the evening visit the Leh Market, Leh Palace, known as ‘Lachen sPalkhar’ and Shanti Stupa, located on a hilltop near Changspa, reaching the top you will see the beauty of whole Leh town. O/N Leh.
Central Leh SightseeingToday we will explore the central part of Ladakh which are closed to the Leh. We will drive along the Leh-Manali Highway towards east for over 40Km to visit Hemis - the biggest monastery in Ladakh. Along the way will visit the Shey Palace/Monastery, once the summer residence of the Kings of Ladakh and also visit the Thiksey monastery, probably the most visited monastery. On our way back to Leh, we will cross over the Indus river to visit the Stok Palace, where the residence of the Namgyal dynasty still resides. O/N stay at Leh.
Leh to LamayuruAfter breakfast, drive to western Ladakh also called the Sham Valley. Sham valley lies at a lower altitude and is usually considered warmer and more fertile. We will drive to the oldest monastery of Ladakh-Lamayuru monastery, it is also famously called the moon land for its unique landscape.Along the way we will visit the Pathar Sahib Gurudwara, Hall of Fame museum, Magnetic hill and Sangam, (Confluence of Zanskar & Indus River).On returning, we will also visit the Spituk monastery. In the evening return to Leh. O/N Lamayuru.
Lamayuru - LehEarly morning after breakfast at the hotel, we will visit the Monastery at Lamayuru and admire the Moonland. We will later start driving towards Leh by retracing the Srinagar-Leh Highway and on the way take the Diversion towards Likir village link road. Likir village will give you an insight of a typical Village in western Ladakh with small fields carved out of slopes in a terraced manner. The village dons a beautiful monastery with a huge statue of golden colour Lord Buddha. Later we will ride back towards the Highway and continue further east towards Leh. We will visit Leh in the evening. Overnight stay at the Leh hotel.
Leh - NubraToday we will drive northward from Leh to Nubra valley, which is considered one of the most scenic valleys in the entire trans-Himalayan region. The valley boasts a unique landscape with sand dunes, lush green oasis and snow peaks, along with beautiful monasteries and villages. We will be crossing the Khardungla pass (18,380ft), considered the Highest motorable pass in the world. The Pass has become a dream destination for adventure souls from all across the world, we can click some photos, grab a hot tea from the cafeteria and start riding towards Nubra valley before any member get caught by AMS. We will ride past the North pullu check post, and through the narrow roads and blind curves to reach Diskit in the afternoon. We will visit the Diskit monastery, and the Maitreya Buddha statue which ideally sits atop a small hill overlooking the valley, the view from there is incredible. Further, we will ride to the Hunder sand dunes, which is among the most visited place in Ladakh and also enjoy the camel ride. Nubra is the only place in India where these camels exist. Nubra-PangongToday we will be visiting the world famous Pangong lake, which is the largest brackish lake in Asia and the largest overall at this altitude. The ride involves retracing the route till Khalsar and diverting towards Shayok road. The road from Nubra to Shayok is very less taken but has to be one of the most scenic routes. There will be some water crossings and offroad stretches which will make it more adventurous and fun. Rest of the day is at your leisure to explore the lake and the surroundings. Overnight stay at Pangong.
Pangong Lake - LehEarly morning, we will wake up to the mesmerising view of sunrise at the lake. The view and tranquillity will surely keep you wanting to come back again and again. The drive will begin soon after, through the nomadic land of Changthang, we may get to see some wild animals freely roaming the wide stretches of Changthang before ascending the Changla pass. Changla pass is once the 2nd highest motorable pass, and still a very tough at times due to extremely bad trails all along. The numerous water streams from the glacier will make it a very adventurous stretch. We will descend the Changla pass, and ride to Leh. Overnight stay at Leh.
Leh - TsomorririAfter breakfast, we will drive towards Chumathang. The road ideally runs alongside the Indus river up till Mahe bridge. We will get to see some scenic villages along the river and also the famous hot springs at Chumathang, which according to Traditional Ladakhi practice have numerous medicinal benefits. We will then take the right direction to Rupsho, followed by some offroad trails to reach Tsomorriri. Tsomorriri is the large lake with wetlands reserves surrounding the lake. Numerous migratory birds and wildlife throng the region during the season. Close to the lake is the scenic village of Korzok, and the monastery of Korzok. Overnight stay at hotel/ Camp.
Tsomorriri - LehToday, we'll start early from Tsomorriri via Sumdo village and further via Polokongka-la (16207ft) towards the Tsokar lake, which is known for the salt deposits, rich wildlife and birding spots. We will also encounter the hot springs and sulphur deposits at the Puga valley. The roads will be a mix of patchy tarmac and off roads amidst flat stretches. We will turn right from Debring, and head towards Leh crossing through Taglang La. Overnight stay at Leh Hotel.
Departure from LehEarly morning transfer to the KBR Leh airport, from there you will to board a flight back to your home. Your Ladakh tour ends with exotic memories and stories to be related once back home.
